Sports Illustrated | Elizabeth Swinton: The Yankees are reportedly among the favorites to acquire star shortstop Francisco Lindor, according to MLB Network’s Jon Morosi. The Mets, Phillies, Blue Jays and Cardinals are all in the mix as well. If the Yanks were to get Lindor, would that mean letting DJ LeMahieu walk and moving Gleyber Torres back to second base?
NJ.com | Brendan Kuty: A potential free agent target for the Yankees is off the board, as Kevin Gausman accepted his qualifying offer from the Giants. Gausman posted a career-best 11.9 K/9 and posted a 3.62 ERA in 10 starts last year, and would have been a potential solution for the Yanks’ rotation depth. Some free agents will be available though, like Trevor Bauer, who rejected his qualifying offer from the Reds.
NJ.com | Mike Rosenstein: Another potential free agent piece for the Yankees is James Paxton, who was not given a qualifying offer from the Bombers last week. Paxton’s agent Scott Boras said Paxton is “close” to throwing for talent evaluators, and that there is “great interest” in the lefty. Paxton’s two seasons with the Yankees included multiple IL stints, and Boras said Paxton would be open to a one-year deal.
