No days off, everyone. We had four games of playoff baseball yesterday, and we’ll get four games of playoff baseball today, including Game Three of the ALDS between the Yankees and the Rays. The Yankees won Game One handily thanks to a ninth-inning explosion, but dropped a tough Game Two to set up this critical third game in San Diego.

Outside of super aces like Gerrit Cole and CC Sabathia, it’s hard to think of a Yankee pitcher of recent vintage fans would rather see on the mound in a pivotal spot than Masahiro Tanaka. The veteran right-hander struggled his last time out, perhaps in part because of a pair of rain delays in Cleveland last Wednesday. In any event, Tanaka’s playoff track record speaks for itself, as does the entirety of his quality seven-year career in pinstripes.

Tanaka will face off with right-hander Charlie Morton. Before then, the second game of the NLDS between the Braves and Marlins will get underway, as will the third game of the other ALDS between the Athletics and Astros.
