Barring a miraculous Wild Card run for Boston, the Yankees have seen the last of the Red Sox in 2019. The Bombers notched a 5-0 win on Monday night, putting them at 14-5 on the season against the reigning world champions.

We’ll have a full recap up soon, but here are some highlights in the meantime:

Winner of the Game

I think James Paxton is healthy, you guys. The left-hander turned in his eighth consecutive strong start on Monday night. He held the Red Sox to four hits over 6.2 innings of work. The left-hander walked three and struck out seven. He’s been rock solid since the calendar flipped to August. The Yankees have to feel good heading into the postseason with this version of Big Maple.

Honorable Mentions: Gio Urshela and Austin Romine for having big nights at the plate, including a home run for each.

Loser of the Game

This space is usually reserved for a Yankee who had a rough game. I have to name the Red Sox here tonight, however, because Bombers mathematically eliminated them from the AL East title.
