Yankees Highlights: Bombers shut out for first time all year

Well, the streak had to end sometime.

After a three-hour rain delay, the Yankees and Rangers finally kicked off this series. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a dull game, and then a bad game. We’ll have a full recap up shortly. Here are the highlights:

Winner of the Game

Masahiro Tanaka didn’t have his best stuff today. He wasn’t very economical with his pitches, and worked really slowly. Nevertheless, he gave the Bombers six innings, and held the Rangers to just two runs on seven hits. He battled, but hung in there.

Honorable mention: Clint Frazier’s throw to get Elvis Andrus out at home.

Loser of the Game

The offense failed to show up today. They weren’t able to get anything going against Mike Minor. The Yankees went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position, and only managed six hits. They failed to push a single run across the plate, meaning that their 220-game streak without being shut out came to an end.

Honorable mention: Nestor Cortes Jr., Tyler Lyons
