The Yankees are coming off two exciting, walk-off wins against the Oakland A’s this past weekend. Today, they host the Texas Rangers for the first time this season. In fact, the Rangers are the only AL team the Yanks haven’t faced yet.
Masahiro Tanaka will get the ball for New York. He is coming off a dominant start against the Mariners where he went seven scoreless innings of three-hit ball, striking out seven. He has relied heavily on his slider in his last couple of starts. It has generated swings and misses along with his splitter and fastball. Look for more of the same today.
Clint Frazier will get his first shot back in the field this afternoon. Aaron Boone said he’s seen “significant improvements” in Frazier’s defense since the last time he was up. Didi Gregorius gets the day off as Gleyber Torres will be at shortstop, and Tyler Wade at second base.
The only AL opponent we haven't faced yet. #TanakaTime to change that.
