(Update): Tonight’s game between the Yankees and Tigers has been postponed due to rain. According to Lindsey Adler, the clubs will play a straight doubleheader tomorrow.
(Original Post): The New York Yankees are coming off of a tough loss last night by a final score of 12-11. Today, they will send CC Sabathia to the mound—his first appearance since returning from the injured list—in hopes to reverse their fortunes in game two. This will be his last time pitching in Comerica Park, the place where he recorded his first major league win.
Because it is his first start back and because of Sabathia’s bad knee, Domingo German is scheduled to come out of the bullpen to relieve the veteran lefty when CC gets up to around the 75-80 pitch mark. We can look at CC as the “opener” for today’s game. This is also beneficial to German as he may be coming out of the bullpen in the postseason.
DJ LeMahieu and Aaron Judge both return to the lineup after getting yesterday off. Even though he smashed two home runs in game one, Brett Gardner will be on the bench as Maybin and Frazier round out the outfield.
CC takes the mound as we look for a bounce back win.

Matthew Boyd will be facing the Yankees lineup. He has squared off against the Yankees once this year, back in the beginning of the season. In that game, he went 6.1 innings allowing five hits, just one run, and struck out 13 batters. Boyd has struggled of late, owning a 7.36 ERA over his last three starts.
