The Yankees will look to keep two streaks intact tonight against the Orioles: the team has gone 8-0 at Camden Yards this year with two games to go, and the club is 10-0 when using bullpen games this year. Both streaks will be put to the test tonight when Jonathan Holder takes the mound against the O’s to open tonight’s contest.
Holder has actually done this before. A former starter in the minor leagues, Holder started the Yankees’ first-ever bullpen game last year, a 4-1 win in Tampa Bay. He won’t be expected to go any more than two innings, but he’ll be looking to build off of his last two appearances, which have featured three scoreless frames. He’ll likely be followed by Nestor Cortes Jr. and Stephen Tarpley.
The O’s will turn to Asher Wojciechowski to try and snap their home losing streak against the Bombers. Wojciechowski has been a good find for the Orioles since they acquired him in July, striking out 10.9 batters per nine innings and pitching to a 4.15 ERA and 1.07 WHIP. This will be his first start against the Yankees.
