The trade deadline is over, the Yankees didn’t do anything, and they still could use some help. The August waiver deadline no longer exists, but teams can still make improvements in a couple of ways. Players who have been on minor league contracts all season and have not been called up to the majors at any point can still be traded. Additionally, any player with five-plus years of service time who is designated for assignment and clears waivers can refuse assignment and elect free agency. Mark Feinsand has a good breakdown of the new August rules here. That brings us to this week’s prompt:
What are some creative ways that the Yankees can improve the team?
There is a little less than a month until rosters expand, so the Yankees can’t turn to their prospects for help just yet. They could make some trades for minor leaguers, sign some of the remaining free agents, or clear some roster space on the 25-man to make room for a call up. What do you think is the best way they can make improvements? Head over to the FanPost section and share your answer with us. We’ll feature one of the submissions on the front page on Friday.
How will we select which FanPosts to promote to the front page? Some of it will be subjective. If you follow our tips, you should find yourself on the right track. We will also be looking for FanPosts with comments and recommendations. Depending on the number of responses we get, receiving some recs on your post could separate your FanPost from the crowd. Additionally, if your post has a number of comments then it may have sparked some worthwhile discussions. These are just a few things we’ll be looking for when we decide which post(s) to promote on the front page. We are always on the lookout for new talent, and the FanPost section can be a great way to get our attention.
Submit your answer in the FanPost section before Friday (August 9th) for your post to be considered.
