We’re halfway through this four-game set against the Red Sox, and so far the series is going much better than last weekend’s. The Yankees easily took the first game of today’s doubleheader, giving them a 2-0 lead in the series. We’ll have a full recap up shortly, but here are the highlights in the meantime.
Winner of the Game
It was a heck of a game for DJ LeMahieu. The infielder got the Yankees on the board early with a solo shot off Chris Sale in the first inning. The Bombers had a big fourth inning, with contributions from just about everyone. Three more runs scored thanks to LeMahieu, who took Sale deep once again. He now has 17 homers on the year.

Honorable Mention: Domingo German
Loser of the Game
This title usually goes to a Yankee, but the true loser of the game has to be Chris Sale. He surrendered EIGHT earned runs through 3.2 innings. That’s after giving up six runs during Sunday’s game. I know he was unhappy with the ump, but that doesn’t explain his struggles away. He should keep up the good work, in my opinion.
