Yankees Highlights: Mike Ford drives two homers, Yankees built tough

Just like we all expected.

Fresh off of a series win in Los Angeles, the Yankees started a three-game set in Seattle with a victory! We’ll have a full recap up in the morning. Enjoy the highlights in the meantime:

Winner of the Game

Holy cow, Mike Ford. After taking Clayton Kershaw deep in yesterday’s game, the first baseman started tonight’s game with a two-run bomb. During his second at-bat, he also hammered a ball to the right field seats. Ford is scorching hot right now. I still can’t get over just how good the fill-ins have been this year.

Honorable mention: Gleyber Torres because he hit his 33rd home run of the year, and provided the above GIF.

Non-winner of the Game

Loser is too harsh, but J.A. Happ got roughed up in the second inning. Predictably, the southpaw gave up a home run because he can’t help himself. He just hasn’t been able to limit them to solo shots either. Instead, it was a three-run blast to Dylan Moore that let the Mariners back into the game. Luckily, Ford kept the game out of reach. Happ ended the night with three runs across five innings with three walks and seven strikeouts. All-in-all, it was one of his better recent outings.

Honorable mention: The fifteen minutes the umps spent analyzing Cory Gearrin’s toe-tap before kind of making him change his delivery mid-appearance. They called a balk on one of his pitches, but not on others and it was all confusing.
