As Major League Baseball celebrates its third annual Players’ Weekend, the Yankees are using it as an opportunity to show off their style.

The Bombers took the field at Chavez Ravine in MLB-issued all black uniforms, but that didn’t stop them from displaying their personal color. Caitlin already ranked the best and worst nicknames, and I dug into Cameron Maybin’s appreciation of 90s cartoons. Those pieces only scratch the surface of the fun.

We gathered some of our favorite personality items worn by the Yankees this weekend. They do a great job highlighting the players’ interests, the things close to their hearts, and their creativity.

Didi Gregorius

Sir Didi launched two home runs on Friday night, including a grand slam, using a neon green bat. He looked like a Jedi master wielding a lightsaber. Gregorius also has custom cleats that he designed himself, a Players’ Weekend tradition for the shortstop.

The Dexter’s Laboratory artwork rocks by itself, but it gets taken to another level when you consider that Gregorius did it by hand.

Masahiro Tanaka

Tanaka, who goes by Ma-Kun this weekend, went Super Saiyan with his cleats. The right-hander is rocking Dragon Ball Z gear, and he is so excited about it.

CC Sabathia

Sabathia has three pairs of cleats for the weekend. They include a pair signed by students at his alma mater, Vallejo High School, as well as a pair depicting characters from the TV show Peaky Blinders. The best cleats, however, pay tribute to the Black Aces.

Gio Urshela

Urshela broke out for the Yankees in a big way this season. He also has some of the most colorful cleats you will find this weekend. His feature the colors of Colombia’s flag. The same goes for his bat.

Gleyber Torres

Torres’ nickname, De Caracas, pays tribute to his hometown. His bat also features the Venezuelan flag. Torres hit his 32nd home run of the season on Friday night, so it’s clearly working for him.

Mike Tauchman

Tauchman’s husky, Kota, has become a recurring character in his social media game. Kota also makes an appearance on the outfielder’s cleats. We say 14/10, good dog.
