The New York Yankees have dropped the first two games of this three-game set in Oakland. They will send Masahiro Tanaka on the mound tonight, who is coming off a start against the Cleveland Indians in which he went 6.1 innings, giving up two runs, both via the long ball.
Tanaka has appeared in the Oakland Coliseum twice in his six-year career and struggled in both starts. He owns a 4.91 ERA against the A’s in their home ballpark, and they have slashed .283/.320/.500 against him. However, the last time Masa faced Oakland was in May of 2017.
In terms of the offense, Brett Gardner returns to the lineup after being on the bench for the first two games of this series. Gio Urshela will DH as DJ LeMahieu will hold down the hot corner instead.
Last one in Oakland.
