Yankees Highlights: It was a Happless showing in Oakland

Happ was bad, and nobody is surprised.

This road trip has gotten off to a poor start for the Yankees, as they dropped another game in Oakland tonight. Starting pitching was bad, and it took the offense a couple of innings to wake up. We’ll have a full recap up shortly. Here are the highlights:

Winner of the Game

It was a good night for the Mikes, who were responsible for almost all of the Yankee runs. Mike Tauchman had an RBI single and sac fly, and Mike Ford went 3-for-4 with a solo home run.

Honorable Mention: Didi Gregorius

Loser of the Game

Which Yankees pitcher is more frustrating: J.A. Happ or James Paxton? I guess it depends on the day. Happ struggled again tonight. First, he surrendered a two-run bomb to the slumping Khris Davis. He also gave up a two-run blast to Marcus Semien. In the fifth inning, he gave up a leadoff double, hit a batter, then walked the bases loaded. Chad Green nearly escaped the jam, but one run scored. That’s a final line of 4 IP, 4 H, 5 ER, 2 BB, 4 K, 2 HR.

Honorable Mention: Cameron Maybin
