It took the bats too long to wake up today.

The Yankees were forced to settle for a series split with the Indians today. Their pitching did them no favors, and it took too long for the bats to wake up. They attempted to rally in the ninth, but came up just short. We’ll have a full recap up later. Here are the highlights:

Winner of the Game

The offense wasn’t able to get much going over the first six innings, but DJ LeMahieu finally put the Bombers on the board with a two-run homer in the seventh. He also knocked in another run in the ninth, and was responsible for three of the four runs scored today.

Loser of the Game

CC Sabathia returned from the injured list today and was absolutely awful in the second inning. He gave up three hits, walked three batters, and surrendered four earned runs before the inning ended. He was lucky to escape without giving up even more runs. Sabathia’s pitch count was up in the 50s before the third inning even started. He ultimately made it through the third without any further damage, but that was the end of his short day.
