The Yankees picked up another win on Saturday afternoon. Like last night, this one had a playoff feel. It also featured a series of ridiculous ejections. What a strange game.

We’ll have a full recap up shortly. In the meantime, here are some highlights:

Winner of the Game

Is it possible for Gleyber Torres to be underrated? Gio Urshela, Mike Tauchman, and Cameron Maybin have been in the spotlight—and for good reason! They’re awesome. Torres, however, has been consistently excellent in his age-22 season. The second baseman swatted two more dingers today, bringing him to 29 on the year. That’s superstar stuff.

Honorable Mention: DJ LeMahieu, Didi Gregorius

Loser of the Game

For a few starts it looked like James Paxton had turned a corner. He hit a speed bump this afternoon, however, allowing four runs over five innings of work. He struck out four and didn’t give up a home run, but his first inning struggles continued. It took the southpaw 30 pitches to escape the opening frame. The Yankees need Paxton to pitch better, both in terms of efficiency and efficacy. ‘

The entire umpiring crew deserves mention here, as well. They put on an enormous ump show, ejecting Aaron Boone, CC Sabathia, and Brett Gardner. Phil Cuzzi in particular made a spectacle of the situation.
