Yankees Highlights: Masahiro Tanaka has another strong outing

That’s more like it.

MLB: Cleveland Indians at New York Yankees Wendell Cruz-USA TODAY Sports

After yesterday’s lop-sided loss to start the series against Cleveland, the Yankees bounced back today. New York pitchers got the job done, and didn’t even have to hand the ball to a position player. Big day! We’ll have a full recap up shortly. Here are some highlights in the meantime.

Winner(s) of the Game

Masahiro Tanaka put together his second good outing in a row, which was especially encouraging after last night’s disastrous game. Through 6.1 innings, Tanaka gave up four hits, didn’t walk a batter, and recorded two strikeouts. He also gave up two home runs, as he is wont to do, but they were solo shots at least. With one out and a runner on second in the seventh inning, Tommy Kahnle entered and struck out Jason Kipnis and Franmil Reyes to end the top half.

As for the offense, Gio Urshela went 3-for-4, and Gary Sanchez and Gleyber Torres both knocked RBI singles. Aaron Judge singled, doubled, and walked. Hopefully this is a sign that he is about to breakout.

Loser of the Game

No one tonight.
