We’re in the midst of a four-game stretch without Yankees baseball. Some of the Bombers did play today, though. If you had no interest in watching the All-Star Game, but want to know how the Yankees’ representatives did, we’ve got you covered. We will have a full game recap up later, but here are the highlights for now:
Winner(s) of the Game
Masahiro Tanaka wasn’t originally named to the All-Star team, but ended up being an injury replacement for Marcus Stroman. He entered the game in the second, following Justin Verlander, and pitched a scoreless inning. Tanaka even struck out Cody Bellinger during the process!
Catcher Gary Sanchez went 1-for-2 at the plate tonight. He hit a leadoff double in the fifth, then came around to score on an RBI single off the bat of Jorge Polanco.

Finally, Aroldis Chapman struck out the side to end the game and earn the save.
Loser(s) of the Game
DJ LeMahieu grounded out twice before being subbed out of the game. Meanwhile, Gleyber Torres struck out swinging against Walker Buehler, and singled up the middle off Sandy Alcantara. Torres also deflected a two-run Pete Alonso RBI in the eighth that made it a 4-3 game. Luckily, the AL still won.
