Oh, hey. look at that. The Yankees played a game today. The Bombers split the series with the Diamondbacks on a stormy day in the Bronx. We’re working hard on trade deadline coverage, so pardon the abbreviated highlights. We’ll have a full recap up soon.
Winner of the Game
Mike Tauchman launched a two-run homer off former-Diamondback, current-Astro Zack Greinke in the second inning to give the Yankees an early lead. Gio Urshela set it up by working a walk, no easy task when Greinke is on the mound.
Urshela also made a ridiculous play to end a bases-loaded threat:

He’s something else, isn’t he?
Additionally, Austin Romine came up with the game-winning home run in the seventh inning. That was pretty cool.
Loser of the Game
The Yankees also still have that pitching problem. Masahiro Tanaka allowed only one run, but he struggled mightily, lasting just four innings. The team needs a starter to step up badly. Chad Green also had a brutal afternoon, allowing two runs (one earned) in an inning of work. If only they could have upgraded the rotation or bullpen today...
Honorable Mention: Aroldis Chapman
