The Yankees will try to bounce back this afternoon after losing the first two games of the series to the Red Sox. With veteran CC Sabathia on the mound opposing lefty Eduardo Rodriguez, the Yankees need their starter to give them some much needed length. After all, Masahiro Tanaka and James Paxton went fewer than five innings in each of their outings.

Thankfully for the Yankees, Sabathia has a history of being the stopper when it comes to losing streaks. In 19 career starts at Fenway Park, Sabathia is 7-5 with a 4.87 ERA. Despite a poor outing against the Twins on July 22nd, Sabathia has gone six innings or more in five of his last nine starts, so the Yankees should feel confident they can right the ship today.

With a 6-4 record in their previous 10 games, it’s far from panic time for the Bombers. But with 58 games remaining after today and a nine-game lead on the Red Sox, first place in the AL East is far from a lock.

The Yankees’ lineup today will be missing DJ LeMahieu who has undergone an MRI on a groin injury. The fire power will have to come from Aaron Hicks, Aaron Judge, and a red-hot Didi Gregorius instead.

Today’s game starts with a first pitch at 4:05pm ET, and be seen live on MLB.TV, YES and streamed on fuboTV or the MLB app.
