The Yankees had a chance to finish up this homestand with a three-game sweep of the Rockies, but failed to get the job done today. We’ll have a full recap up in a bit. Here are the highlights in the meantime:
Winner of the Game
Through the first five innings, the only Yankee with a hit to his name was DJ LeMahieu. He knocked his 14th home run of the season during the bottom of the first inning.
Honorable Mention: Chad Green, Aaron Hicks
Loser of the Game
James Paxton dug the Bombers into a quick hole, surrendering a home run to the very first batter he faced, Charlie Blackmon. The Rockies proceeded to score six more runs in the third and fourth inning. A Luke Voit fielding error didn’t help matters, but the southpaw was still responsible for four of the seven runs Colorado scored through the first four innings. He walked three batters, allowed five hits, and recorded six strikeouts.
Honorable Mention: Luke Voit
