The Battle for the East will take a hiatus today as, tonight’s game between the New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays has been postponed due to the severe weather forecast, the Yankees have announced. The game will be made up tomorrow as part of a traditional doubleheader, with the first game starting at 3:00 ESET
In what has become a trend this season, the Yankees waited to postpone the game until many fans had already entered the stadium, despite the fact that the severe thunderstorm watch had been known for several hours.
Here is the official announcement:
Tonight's game between the Yankees and Rays has been postponed due to the forecast of severe inclement weather. It will be made up as part of a straight doubleheader tomorrow (3:00pm Game 1 start).

Bryan Hoch reports that Domingo German is expected to start the first game of the doubleheader tomorrow, while the team will go with a bullpen game for the second, giving J.A. Happ an extra day of rest.
