It’s been a tough week for the Yankees. They’ve just had another player hit the IL. In case you missed it, Domingo German injured his left hip flexor and will undergo an MRI tomorrow. To make matters worse, the team hasn’t been playing well, and for the second consecutive series, the Yankees face a sweep from their opponent. It’ll be up to Chad Green and the rest of the bullpen to keep that from happening.

Masahiro Tanaka was originally scheduled to make a start today but is in New York with his wife for the birth of their child. Instead, the Yankees will run Chad Green and likely Nestor Cortes in Tanaka’s place. The big bullpen arms are all pretty rested, so the Yankees don’t need to ask too much of their opener and long man.

As far as the lineup goes, things look fairly normal. Didi Gregorius is the only regular starter on the bench today, but that was tobe expected. The Yankees want to take things slowly with Gregorius, and he just played on back-to-back days.

Cleveland is throwing Shane Bieber opposite Green today. Bieber has put together a solid sophomore campaign so far this year. The 24-year-old owns a 3.57 ERA, and strikes out 10.94 hitters per 9 innings. However, he can have some homer issues. He only generates groundballs 39.7% of the time and owns a 1.78 HR/9. If the Yankees can put the ball in play, the day could easily go in their favor.

First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 PM EST. It’ll be broadcast on YES but can be streamed online at MLB.tv or FuboTV for out-of-market viewers.
