The Yankees and Red Sox sure put on a show for the first MLB game played in Europe yesterday, combining for 30 runs and almost 40 hits in a 17-13 Yankees win. The Bombers will try for the sweep with this morning’s game.

Although CC Sabathia and J.A. Happ are available on full rest, the Yankees decided earlier this week to go with a bullpen game for today’s contest. That strategy may be tested today with a tired bullpen after yesterday’s marathon, but Stephen Tarpley will make his first major league start in London. He’ll likely be followed by Chance Adams, and Aaron Boone has said that Sabathia and Happ could be available in relief if needed. Who’s ready for weird bullpen management?

The Red Sox counter with a more traditional starter, Eduardo Rodriguez. Already in his fifth MLB season, Rodriguez is 8-4 with a 4.87 ERA this year, and 4-3 with a 3.66 ERA against the Yankees for his career. His stuff tends to be very inconsistent, but if he’s on, he can be a tough opponent. It will be interesting to see how deep the starters go into the game after Saturday’s starters got shelled and left after less than an inning.
