Shortly after the Yankees selected Anthony Volpe 30th overall in the 2019 MLB Draft, fans began to dig into Volpe’s background. In addition to scouting reports and video action, they wanted to know what he’s like as a person. What team does he root for? What’s his personality like? They wanted to get to know Volpe on a human level.
As it turns out, a tweet Volpe posted from 2017 quickly resurfaced. It shows that he’s a Yankees fan, and he enjoyed a particular performance by Didi Gregorius — a player he may one day replace on the Yankees’ roster.

— Anthony Volpe (@Volpe_Anthony) October 4, 2017
You may recall October 3, 2017 as the Wild Card Game against the Twins. With the Yankees trailing 3-0 in the bottom of the first, Gregorius launched a three-run homer to tie the game.
Getting drafted by the Yankees has to be a cool moment for Volpe and his family. And who knows? Maybe the best case scenario unfolds and he ends up hitting a clutch postseason homer in the Bronx. That would be pretty fun!
