How do you grade the Yankees’ first pick?

The MLB Draft is officially underway, and with the 30th overall pick, the Yankees selected Anthony Volpe. The high school shortstop hit .500 with 17 extra-base hits across 78 at-bats in 2019. He is committed to Vanderbilt.

This selection doesn’t come as much of a surprise considering that the Yankees were connected to him during mock drafts over the past few weeks. Volpe is known for his solid defense and offense, and scouts are impressed with his makeup and work ethic. It makes sense for the Yankees to go all-in on infielders, given that their top prospects at the moment are pitchers.

Be sure to check out our full write up on Volpe. Here’s some live action footage, too:

Now it’s your turn to grade the Yankees’ first-round pick. Are you happy with the selection? Do you wish they had gone with a different player instead? Vote in the poll below and let us know what you think in the comment section.
