Major League Baseball’s annual first-year player draft gets underway tonight. Unlike last year, when the Yankees played a double-header on draft day, New York has the evening off. That means we can all focus on who the Bombers will try to bring into the organization.
As has been the case the last few years, tonight’s activities cover the first two rounds of the draft. There will be Round 1, Competitive Balance Rounds A and B, and Round 2. The Yankees have three selections tonight, with picks number 30, 38, and 67.
Here’s how you can tune into the draft and follow along:

The Baltimore Orioles have the first pick, followed by the Royals, White Sox, Marlins, Tigers, Padres, Reds, Rangers, Braves, and Giants. The Blue Jays, Mets, Twins, Phillies, Angels, Diamondbacks, Nationals, Pirates, Cardinals, and Mariners round out the top 20. That leaves the Braves, Rays, Rockies, Indians, Dodgers, Diamondbacks, Cubs, Brewers, Athletics, Yankees, Dodgers, and Astros.
Competitive Balance Round A features the Marlins, Rays, Pirates, Yankees, Twins, Rays, and Rangers in that order. The Yankees acquired a pick here when they traded Sonny Gray to the Cincinnati Reds.
Pinstripe Alley will have live coverage throughout the entire draft, so check back often. Let’s find out who we’ll welcome as the newest members of the Yankees!
