June didn’t get off to the best start for the Yankees, but they have turned things around. In fact, they’ve now won seven games in a row! It doesn’t get much better than sweeping the Rays and guaranteeing a series-split with the Astros. Here are the highlights:

Winner(s) of the Game

Gary Sanchez and Gleyber Torres are both on fire. The catcher got the Yankees on the board with a two-run bomb in the third inning. The towering blast traveled 481 feet, good for the fifth-longest home run in the majors this year. Torres hit a two-run shot of his own in the seventh to give the Bombers some insurance runs. The Yankees have now homered in 24 straight games. They’re just one away from tying the franchise record, so stay tuned tomorrow. Not to mention the fact that Sanchez and Torres have both homered in three straight games together.

Loser of the Game

Cameron Maybin’s calf. He exited with an apparent injury after scoring on the Sanchez home run. YES announced a calf strain and said he was going for an MRI. It never ends with this team this year, huh?
