After splitting the series against the White Sox over the weekend, the Yankees started a tough homestand tonight. They’re looking at two more games against Tampa Bay, then four against the Astros. The good news is that they got off to a fantastic start with a 3-0 win over the Rays. We’ll have a full recap up later. Enjoy the highlights in the meantime.
Winner(s) of the Game
Masahiro Tanaka entered tonight’s outing having pitched three clunkers in a row. He bounced back in a huge way though! The right-hander tossed a complete game shutout against the Rays. He surrendered just two hits, issued one walk, and notched TEN strikeouts. It doesn’t get much better than that. Hopefully this means he has righted the ship.
With all the injured players coming back, Cameron Maybin is going to have to fight for his spot on the roster. He has been unstoppable the past few days, homering in three straight games. In addition to tonight’s solo shot, he laced two singles.
