Yankees Highlights: Bombers awful in every way imaginable

This was a good game to turn off in the first inning.

Can we turn our calendars back to May? June sure hasn’t been kind to the Yankees. After the thumping that the White Sox handed out tonight, the Bombers have now lost eight of their last ten games. If you missed this one, good on you. We will have a full recap up shortly, though, if you’re truly interested in reading about where it all went wrong. Spoiler alert: pitching, offense, and defense were all bad!

Winner of the Game

The Yankees did approximately one good thing in this game. During his first at-bat, in the first inning, Luke Voit got to Lucas Giolito. The first baseman launched his 17th home run of the season to give New York a quick 1-0 lead. That would be their only lead, and an incredibly short-lived one at that.

Loser of the Game

What an awful game for CC Sabathia. He had nothing, and was subsequently hit hard from the get go. The southpaw surrendered a three-run homer and RBI single in the first inning, followed by an RBI double in the second. On the plus side, Sabathia hung in there for a couple more innings. He didn’t make it through the fifth, but at least the Yankees didn’t have to turn to the bullpen in the second. Especially because tomorrow is a bullpen game.
