The Yankees are playing two today in the Bronx, and hopefully the second game goes as well as the first. The Bronx Bombers were out in full force earlier this afternoon, knocking three homers on their way to 12 total runs. Even better, the Yankees didn’t have to burn much pitching on their way to victory. Tommy Kahnle and David Hale were the only pitchers used out of the bullpen, meaning everyone else should be fresh and ready to go in game two if needed.

James Paxton is set to take the hill for the Yankees in the evening game. It’ll be the Big Maple’s third post-IL start, and he wasn’t great his last time out. On June 5th, he allowed four runs (three earned) while walking three in just 4.2 innings.

Opposite Paxton is Jason Vargas, who was originally scheduled to throw last night’s game before it got postponed. Vargas is amidst a strong year after posting a 65 ERA+ last season. The 36-year-old lefty comes into tonight’s game sporting a 112 ERA+ and threw a complete game shutout against the Giants in his last start.

Unsurprisingly, Aaron Boone made some changes to the lineup following game one. Austin Romine will take over behind the plate, moving Gary Sanchez into the DH role. Luke Voit moves from DH to first base, putting Kendrys Morales to the bench. Aaron Hicks will get some rest in favor of Cameron Maybin. Brett Gardner will play centerfield though, and Maybin will be in left. Finally, Didi Gregorius will take a seat, and Gleyber Torres will play shortstop. Chance Adams will serve as the Yankees’ 26th man in tonight’s game.

Today’s game can be seen on YES, ESPN, or Fubo TV, and heard on WFAN or WADO. First pitch will be at 7:05 PM ET.
