Over the weekend, the Yankees took their first series win against a team that started the series above .500. They’ll have a chance to take a 2-0 lead in this four-game set against Seattle today. Yesterday we gladly welcomed Clint Frazier back to the team, and though he may have struck out a couple times, it’s good to see the reinforcements starting to arrive.
Aaron Boone mentioned Miguel Andujar would see most of his games at designated hitter while he gets himself back to optimal shape, which allowed Gio Urshela to continue playing strong defense at third. We also got to see Thairo Estrada showcase what he can do both defensively and offensively last night.
As for tonight, we welcome Masahiro Tanaka back to the mound in the Bronx after his West Coast outings didn’t go as planned. Hopefully, being back home will help him find some of his earlier form. Gleyber Torres had an off-day yesterday and is right back in there. Cameron Maybin finds himself back in the lineup as well.

The Seattle Mariners counter with their nominal ace Marco Gonzales, who just came off his worst game off the season and looks to correct himself as well tonight. He faced a total of 14 batters while only recording five outs against the Chicago Cubs, allowing six runs in total. With the right-handed Tanaka on the mound, Dee Gordon will lead off as the Mariners hope for some early run support, much like the Yankees used to put yesterday’s game quickly out of reach.
