It was a battle of former aces tonight, and the Yankees and CC Sabathia came out on top. The game didn’t quite turn into the blowout that it looked like it would early, but the Bombers had enough of a lead to keep Seattle at bay.
Winner of the Game
The Yankees wasted no time getting to Felix Hernandez. Luke Voit kicked things off with two-run bomb, Brett Gardner hit a solo shot, and Thairo Estrada launched his first big league home run. The rookie’s homer was so unexpected that John Sterling didn’t even have a home run call prepared. When Paul O’Neill asked him about it, he explained that he simply didn’t think he’d hit one. Estrada also made a nice play in the sixth to get the final out with the bases loaded.

Loser of the Game
For the second day in a row, no one earned this title. Keep up the good work, Yankees.
