The Yankees just took a series from a team over .500 for the first time this year. Letting Michael Pineda shut the lineup down would have been vintage Yankees, but the offense showed up today! We’ll have a full recap up later, but here are some highlights in the meantime.
Winner of the Game
Domingo German was brilliant this afternoon. He limited the Twins to just four hits, three walks, and one earned run through 6.2 innings. For the first time all season, he threw over 100 pitches—108—and it was his longest outing of the year, too. German has somehow taken on the role of best non-injured starting pitcher. Just like we all predicted.
Honorable Mention: Mike Tauchman broke out of his slump with a two-run bomb to increase the Yankees’ lead.
Loser of the Game
The Yankees took the series win, there are no losers today.
