After splitting the first two games of the series, the Yankees and Twins will wrap up their series in the Bronx today. If the Yankees want to come away with the series win, they’re going to have to go through an old friend to do it. Michael Pineda will get the ball for Minnesota. It will be his first start against the Yankees since leaving the team after the 2017 season.
The move to the midwest hasn’t worked out so far for Pineda, as he comes in with an ERA over six. He’s lasted more than five innings once so far, and gave up five runs in five innings last time out. The main story coming into the game is undoubtedly where he can show out against his former team.
In his return yesterday, Miguel Andujar picked up a hit, but also recorded two errors at third base. He remains in the lineup today, but shifts over to the DH spot. In that spot, Gio Urshela comes back into the fold, while the rest of the lineup is mostly similar.
As for Domingo German, he’s coming off his worst start of the season, allowing four runs in six innings against the Giants. Last time he had in iffy start, German responded with nearly seven strong innings against the Angels, so hopefully we get a similar recovery today,
We’re looking to grab the series win today.
