The Yankees look to take another series from the division rival Tampa Bay Rays today. With a depleted starting rotation, the Yankees will be going with the strategy of using a bullpen game against the Rays today. Chad Green will get the start against the Rays’ off-season acquisition Charlie Morton.
Green hasn’t gotten off to the best start this year. posting a 13.97 ERA in 12 appearances thus far. He was sent down to Triple-A on April 24 to try and find himself again. After having a nice bounce-back when he got called back up last week, his next appearance was another rough outing, giving up two runs on three hits.
Morton has gotten off to a great start this season boasting 4-0 record and a 2.32 ERA while striking out 61 batters in 50.1 IP.
As for the Yankees’ lineup today, Aaron Hicks will be making his fourth start of the season batting second and playing in center field as he tries to find a rhythm. Switch hitter and newly acquired Kendrys Morales will be the designated hitter today against the righty Charlie Morton.
Series finale. Homestand finale. Let’s end it with a W.
