Miguel Andujar makes emotional decision; Yankees clubhouse rallies behind him; Carlos Beltran isn’t too optimistic about Aaron Judge’s return

MLB: Minnesota Twins at New York Yankees Wendell Cruz-USA TODAY Sports

NJ.com | Brendan Kuty: Miguel Andujar elected season-ending surgery for his right shoulder yesterday. The decision didn’t come easy for the third baseman, though. He tried to rehab the labrum tear and perform at the big league level again, but as Andujar’s agent relayed, he just couldn’t play through the pain any longer. Andujar wanted to take the field so badly that he put up with the pain of a torn muscle to do so. Go win that guy a ring, please.

New York Daily News | Kristie Ackert: The news of Andujar’s decision left an impression in the clubhouse. Gleyber Torres, who at times seems inseparable from the third baseman, said of the surgery, “I know how that feels. I think it’s the best option for him. Just try to be with him.” Aaron Boone echoed that sentiment, and I think all Yankees fan do as well.

NJ.com | Brendan Kuty: The Yankees have so many people on the injured list that it can be difficult to stay on top of the updates. A player here or there may fall through the cracks. Shockingly, Aaron Judge appears to have done just that, as the team has scarcely provided updates on the right fielder’s strained oblique. Carlos Beltran, however, weighed in with an unnerving perspective. The veteran finds it hard to believe Judge will return to full strength this season. Obliques are tricky and easy to re-injure. I sadly wouldn’t be surprised.

Considering the news was a bit of a bummer today, I leave you with these highlights from CC Sabathia’s celebrity softball game.

Desus and Mero showed off their trivia knowledge, and made interesting comps for their performances.

I’m always here for Beltran content.

And the same goes with Fat Joe.
