After a few rainy days off, the Yankees were back at it today with a doubleheader against the Orioles. The first game turned into an impromptu home run derby that the Bombers won, thanks in part to Gleyber Torres’ two home runs. They followed that up with another win tonight, sweeping the doubleheader.
Winner of the Game
Who knew that Gleyber Day was a random Wednesday in May? Not only did Torres show up with two solo shots in the first game of the day, but he homered again in the second game. Luke Voit also deserves acknowledgement for breaking out of his 0-for-22 slump. He knocked in the first run of the game with a double off the wall to score DJ LeMahieu from first base. Voit followed that up with two more hits and another RBI.
Honorable Mention: Domingo German had another nice outing, but he made us all hold our breath after he lost the zone and loaded the bases in the seventh.
Loser of the Game
No losers tonight other than the Orioles.
