After two frustrating rainouts, the sun is shining and the Yankees are set to play a doubleheader against the Baltimore Orioles. The third game of the series will be made up in a doubleheader in August, but the Yankees will see the Orioles once again in a week on the road.

J.A. Happ is set to take the mound for the Yankees in game one, coming off of his best start of the season. He struck out seven Mariners over five innings last time out, which was an encouraging sign in what has been a generally disappointing season. This is his third crack at the Orioles this season; he’s 0-1 with a 6.48 ERA against the O’s in his other two tries this year.

The Orioles will trot out David Hess, who’s in the rotation in place of the injured Alex Cobb. Hess has worked out of the bullpen and in the rotation this year, but hasn’t done particularly well in either spot. He’s 1-4 with a 5.50 ERA, and has allowed 10 home runs in 34.1 innings. His strikeout and walk rates aren’t too special either, so the Yankees should look to attack Hess early and often.
