It has been a good week for the Yankees, who have now won five of their last six games. The one loss was a blowout against Seattle, but they dusted themselves off to win the series yesterday. Even better, they kicked off the series against the first-place Rays with a victory.
Winner of the Game
The Yankees were trailing by a run when Tyler Glasnow (and Emilio Pagan) loaded the bases. Not for long, though! Gio Urshela came up with the big hit—a two-run RBI—that gave the Yankees a lead they were able to hold on to.
Honorable Mention: Adam Ottavino looked destined to be named loser of the game after working into a bases-loaded jam with zero outs. He somehow Houdini’d out of it without allowing a run to score.
Loser of the Game
Domingo German’s fifth inning. He was cruising, until he wasn’t. He ended up surrendering a two-run bomb to Austin Meadows, and a solo shot to Ji-Man Choi before the inning was over. Luckily the offense picked him up.
Honorable Mention: Brett Gardner went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts. He has just three hits over his last seven games.
