The Yankees starting rotation, after going through a stretch of incredible production to help an ailing lineup, has become a bit of a concern with an injury to James Paxton and the home run struggles of J.A. Happ and Masahiro Tanaka. Of course, this all comes with the news that Luis Severino will be out until at least the All-Star break.
The most pleasant surprise pitching wise has been Domingo German, and Bryan Hoch of MLB.com stopped by the Bomber Brothers podcast to talk about German’s value, and the potential sustainability of his current production.
Hoch talked about how much German has impressed his teammates, including Gary Sanchez, who has had the best seat in the house for his pitching. Sanchez told the young right-hander that he has the stuff to be great at the major league level, and Hoch agrees. The longtime Yankees beat reporter revealed his confidence that German is “the real deal,” and has been the best pitcher for the Yankees so far this season.
Hoch also discussed the potential future for Gio Urshela, the latest on Aaron Judge, and if an extension for Didi Gregorius is still in the cards this season. To listen to the full interview and podcast episode, check out the link below!
