The first episode of a new Pinstripe Alley podcast is available for download! It featured Marc Carig of The Athletic discussing a number of topics looming over the Yankees Universe right now, including the latest events surrounding ace Luis Severino.

Carig wasn’t shy in expressing a high level of concern that the Yankees are likely feeling now that Severino has experienced another setback in his inflamed shoulder. He notes that shoulders tend to be trickier injuries than the elbow. After recently extending Severino in a four-year deal, the Yanks would be dealt a huge blow to lose their most prolific arm in the starting rotation for an extended period of time.

The possibility of going after Dallas Keuchel to try and fill the void was also discussed, and Carig talked about the potential fit given Gio Gonzalez’s struggles in the minors, but also addressed the added challenge of a late signing. Recent history has shown a number of pitchers struggling through a season without having the luxury or spring training.

It’s not all bad news, as Carig also discussed his high hopes for Domingo German, and talks about his first game back on the Yankee beat last year, a spring exhibition against the Mets where he saw an unknown German shut down their lineup. The full interview and podcast can be heard via the link below. Enjoy, and be on the lookout for new episodes every week featuring Shaun and Ryan Chichester!
