The Yankees badly needed that win, didn’t they? After dropping two in a row against the Tigers, the Bombers had to get back on track. They did just that by securing a come-from-behind victory over the Orioles. It didn’t look good at the start, but the bats came alive in a big way.
Winner of the Game
Gleyber Torres is having himself quite a day. Earlier this morning, his episode of the R2C2 podcast dropped. Then he showed up to Camden Yards and carried the Yankees to victory. He launched a solo home run in the third inning, then lined a three-run bomb in the sixth. Someone had to step up to snap the Yankees out of their funk, and Torres answered the call.
Honorable Mention: Luke Voit, Gary Sanchez
Loser of the Game
James Paxton had a disastrous first inning. The southpaw surrendered a leadoff home run to Jonathan Villar, then proceeded to walk the bases loaded. A balk and a wild pitch later, and the Yankees found themselves in a 3-0 hole. To his credit, Paxton settled down, but he allowed another run in the fifth inning. Bad outings happen. I’m sure Paxton will shake it off and pitch better next time out.
Honorable Mention: Home Plate Umpire Ed Hickox
