The Yankees’ West Coast trip continues with another matchup in San Francisco with the Giants. The three-game set opened up nicely for the Yankees, as they dispatched the Giants 7-3 with relative ease last night. Now, they’ll look to clinch both a series win and a winning road trip today with J.A. Happ on the mound.
Happ has had an uneven start to his 2019 season, but his last two outings have been his best. On Monday, he finally looked truly like the pitcher he was for the Yankees down the stretch last season, holding the Angels to two runs across seven strong innings. He still sports an ugly 5.96 ERA and 5.87 FIP on the year, but hopefully his most recent start is sign of things to come.
He’ll be opposed by fellow left-hander Derek Holland. Holland looked like a potential stud earlier in his career, but fell on hard times between 2015 and 2017. He bounced back with a solid 2018 with the Giants, and has been fine so far this year, posting a 4.33 ERA in 27 innings.
Take a look at the lineups:
Forget the late nights, enjoy some afternoon baseball today.

The Yankees are still trotting out a replacement-laden lineup, but it’s one that’s been winning. Hopefully, the likes of Giovanny Urhsela, Cameron Maybin, DJ LeMahieu, and the rest can keep on pulling their weight.
First pitch is slated for 4:05 EST and can be seen on the YES Network, and streamed on Fox Sports Go or MLB.tv (for out-of-market viewers). You can also listen along on WFAN or WADO.
