Clint Frazier suffered an ankle injury during Monday’s extra innings game against the Angels. They weren’t able to remove him, and he brushed it off following the game. He expected to be available Tuesday, but did not play, and ended up going for an MRI on Wednesday. The MRI revealed a a partial tear in his left ankle, because of course it did. He will be placed on the injured list with the other half of the team and shelved for the next 10-14 days.
We are far beyond the point of absurdity with Yankees injuries. You have to feel for Frazier. He missed nearly all of last season dealing with concussion symptoms, and just finally got his chance to contribute. Not only that, but he’s been tearing the cover off the ball over the past few weeks. Through 18 games, Frazier slashed .324/.342/.632 with six home runs. It feels like everyone who heats up is immediately sidelined with an injury.
The Yankees will recall Joe Harvey as the corresponding move. He hasn’t been down the required number of days, but that doesn’t matter due to the injury.
