Yankees Highlights: Rookies carry team to another victory

The Yankees win, but fail to keep the drama to a minimum.

On the heels of Monday’s dramatic, lengthy game, it looked like the Yankees were going to cruise through Tuesday’s game. At least for the first seven innings. Then Chad Green happened. That guy is not right. Luckily, he didn’t cost them the game. Here are some of the highlights you may have missed if you went to bed early.

Winner of the Game

Don’t sleep on the rookies. Because of the injuries, the Bombers have been forced to call upon players who seemed very far from cracking the major league roster when spring training ended. So far, it has paid off. Thairo Estrada picked up his first MLB hit tonight, a single, and followed that up with another hit and a walk. Mike Ford also blasted his first big league home run!

Honorable mention: Domingo German

Loser of the Game

I didn’t plan to assign a loser of the game since everything was going so swimmingly...until Chad Green entered in the eighth. Apparently he cannot be trusted with even a six-run lead. Two singles and a walk loaded the bases, then Justin Bour hit a grand slam. It’s unclear what exactly is wrong with Green, but he looks lost. It’s time to exercise his remaining option.
