Fresh off of a strong home stand that has brought their record above .500 for the first time since April 7th, the Yankees head out west to begin a nine-game West Coast trip with the first of a four-game set with the Los Angeles Angels.
J.A. Happ (0-2, 7.23 ERA, 6.41 FIP) gets the nod for the Yankees today. He has struggled out of the gate, with his best start of the season (a no-decision in last week’s 5-3 win over Boston) still resulting in 3 runs on 6 hits in 6.1 innings. Opposing him is former Mets ace and New York darling Matt Harvey (0-2, 9.64 ERA, 5.98 FIP). The pitcher once dubbed “The Dark Knight” has seen some tough times these last few years, and this season has been no different: aside from a promising season opener in which he gave up 2 runs in 6 innings of work, Harvey has given up 18 runs in only 12.2 innings.
Harvey’s struggles are fortunate news to the Railriders Yankees, as they send out a lineup with five batters who began the season in Scranton and who will be batting Mike Tauchman fifth.

DJ LeMahieu has been chosen as tonight’s Designated Survivor and will have the evening off.
Anchoring the top-heavy Angels lineup is the consensus best player in baseball, Mike Trout; alongside him is Brian Goodwin, who has had a strong start to the season. After that, the depth falls apart rather quickly:
Bring on the Yankees.
