Yankees Highlights: Bronx Bombers put on a show, but everything sucks because Aaron Judge is hurt

The Yankees have lucked out so far this weekend, somehow finding a way to get their games completed between all of the rain. This game had everything: good pitching, tons of home runs, plenty of drama, and a rare Aaron Boone ejection. Sadly, there was an Aaron Judge injury too. We’ll have a full recap up in a bit, but here are some of the highlights.

Winner of the Game

Honestly, it was an all-around great game until the Judge injury sucked the air out of the stadium. Everyone in the lineup contributed in a meaningful way, including home runs by Clint Frazier, Mike Tauchman, DJ LeMahieu, Gleyber Torres, and Judge. On top of that Masahiro Tanaka tossed a gem, giving up just one run—a solo homer—through seven innings.

Loser of the Game

The Yankees got the win, but it feels like we all lost. Who decided that Judge has to get hurt every time the Yankees play the Royals? Judge suffered an oblique strain and appeared to be in serious pain.

Honorable mention: The review ump(s) who made the call to overturn Gleyber Torres’ home run in the third.
