Yankees Highlights: CC Sabathia shines in debut, snaps Bombers’ losing streak

The pitching was good, and the offense woke up in time to win the game!

Last night’s rain gave way to clear skies today. After dropping the first game of this series, the Yankees bounced back. Granted, the offense couldn’t get anything going for the first six innings. It took Ivan Nova being knocked out of the game before they finally woke up in the seventh, but a win’s a win! A full recap will follow shortly, but here are some highlights in the meantime.

Winner of the Game

CC Sabathia had a heck of a debut outing this afternoon. He tossed five scoreless innings, notched three strikeouts, didn’t issue a walk, and gave up just one hit. The southpaw was pulled after 62 pitches, and probably could have gone another inning. On the other hand, it makes sense to ease him back in after all the health issues and the missed time.

Winner of the Game

It looked like the entire offense was going to be named co-losers of the game, but they turned things around late. We’ll go with two winners today! The Yankees ran into some good luck in the seventh. Instead of grounding into a double play, Greg Bird reached on a fielding error and everyone was safe. Clint Frazier singled to load the bases, and pinch hitter Luke Voit hit a timely line drive to finally put the Bombers on the board.
