Yankees Highlights: James Paxton roughed up as Astros sweep New York

At least this series is over.

MLB: New York Yankees at Baltimore Orioles Mitch Stringer-USA TODAY Sports

Let’s all agree that we will never speak of this Houston series again. The Astros finished off a sweep of the Yankees in one of the most frustrating three-game sets you will ever see. The Bombers just couldn’t get out of their own way. At least it’s over and the team will soon move on to the next matchup. We will have a full recap up shortly, but in the meantime, here are a few highlights.

Winner of the Game

You know what? I’m going to say Joe Harvey. The rookie reliever got called up this morning, and he pitched two shutout innings against the Astros. Harvey threw 29 pitches and picked up three strikeouts. He probably punched his ticket back on the Scranton Shuttle, as the Yankees will likely want a fresh reliever. Nonetheless, keeping the high-powered Astros off the board deserves recognition.

Honorable Mentions: Luke Voit, The eighth inning rally

Loser of the Game

Wednesday night brought about James Paxton’s second straight rough outing. The southpaw lasted four innings, giving up five runs on eight hits. Jose Altuve tagged him for two home runs. On a night when the Yankees badly needed length from their starter, he couldn’t deliver. Here’s hoping Paxton got this out of his system and will return to form soon.
