MLB.com | Mark Feinsand: Unless you’ve been sleeping for over 24 hours, you’ve probably seen the Luis Severino injury news. How short or long term of an injury it is isn’t clear yet, but we at least know he’ll be out probably be out for Opening Day. That means the Yankees are going to need to get some early starts this season from an unintended source. Luckily, there are several options out there, whether they be in-house or currently on the free agent market.
MLB.com | Bryan Hoch: CC Sabathia will be adding to his growing media career in 2019. It was announced that Sabathia will make 15 appearances on ESPN this season, on days where he is not pitching. Judging by his R2C2 podcast, Sabathia is interesting to listen to and sounds like a good fit for an analyst role.
NJ.com | Randy Miller: While it wasn’t totally shocking that the Yankees brought back Brett Gardner, the speed and price at which they agreed to seemed a little unnecessary. However, the Yankees are still clearly fans of Gardner and seem to have a plan to use him better in 2019. That might include using him a bit less, even if Gardner himself still wants to play every day.
New York Post | George A. King: Lost in the Severino news was that Aaron Hicks also didn’t play on Tuesday due to an injury. It was the second straight game the outfielder missed, and as of right now, there is no timetable for his return. At this rate, if the Yankees do lock up Dellin Betances with an extension was was rumored, he will be eaten by a shark or something.
